This is my first year of teaching and I could not have survived without Caring Discipline by JoAnne Nordling. This book has really helped me understand how to create a very positive classroom community. The chapters I re-read are chapter two on ignoring and giving positive and neutral attention and chapter four on listening to inner reality. Since I have been using inner reality with students tantrums and defiant behaviors have almost gone away. I feel like this book helped me have the confidence and assurance that I making the right classroom management decisions. Really good mix of theory and practical tools for today's parent. Very helpful!
This book is your one-stop-shop for discipline. It has easy, loving, sound discipline advice. Honestly, you can use these strategies in all of your relationships! You're mostly likely already using the tools, but this gives you a practical plan on how to handle particular situations and how to not sabotage your discipline. You'll feel confident and that you're in control. It's a must-read!
